Dimapur, Nov. 4 (EMN): The Hindu Seva Samiti (HSS) of Dimapur organised an award ceremony recognising various groups from the community for their work during the Durga Puja celebrations. The ceremony was conducted on November 3 in the Durga Mandir hall in Dimapur.
Addressing the programme, the president of the HSS, Gopal Sharma lauded members of the committees for maintaining peace and smooth Durga Puja celebrations. He urged the community to maintain the same spirit in promoting peace in their respective area throughout the year.
Also, Sharma thanked the Naga civil society for extending moral support to the people of other faiths not just during the ‘Puja’ and the festive seasons but throughout the year.
At the ceremony, awards in various categories were given out as part of the Durga Puja competition for 2019. The PWD puja committee was awarded the best puja pandal prize; the Babulal Kachari puja committee bagged the title for the best idol; the Durga Mandir puja committee was adjudged winner for best decorations; the Nepali Basti puja committee was awarded the best ethnic pandal prize.
Further, another award ‘best women empowerment award’ was presented to the Chumukedima puja committee; the best ‘Dhakhi’ or percussion prize was awarded to the DDSC playground puja committee; the group representing the aluminium factory area was adjudged the best disciplined group; the award for ‘best immersion’ to Bonjak Phom colony; and the Thakhurbari puja committee was awarded the best procession award.
Also, the Lhomithi colony puja committee bagged the overall champion award, while K Kire colony took the first runners up prize and the New Market puja committee, the second runner-up prize.
