- DIMAPUR — Results
for the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and the Higher Secondary School
Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) Examinations 2025 were declared on Friday, with
girls outperforming boys this year too.
- In HSLC examination, a total of 16,771 candidates
successfully qualified, resulting in an overall pass percentage of 75.16%. This
marks an improvement compared to the previous five years, with pass percentages
of 71.87% (2024), 70.32% (2023), 64.69% (2022), 69.42% (2021), and 70.03% (2020).
- Girls outperformed boys, with a pass percentage of 75.39%
(8,878 girls qualifying) compared to 74.90% for boys (7,893 qualifying).
Notably, girls also dominated the Top 20 list, comprising 81 out of the 126
candidates.
- For the second year in a row, government schools’ pass
percentage declined, reaching 48.41% in 2025, compared to 48.55% in 2024 and
49.13% in 2023. Conversely, private schools continued to maintain a higher pass
percentage of 87.64%.

- In terms of district-wise performance for government
schools, Kohima district topped the charts with a pass percentage of 70%,
followed by Mokokchung (66%) and Chumoukedima (59%). Shamator district recorded
the lowest pass percentage at 17%.
- For private schools, Mokokchung district led with 93%,
followed by Kohima (92%) and Phek (91%).
- Ten out of the 20 candidates under the Children with Special
Needs (CWSN) category, who appeared with accommodations, successfully cleared
the examination.
- The HSSLC examination results revealed varying pass
percentages across different streams. Girls outperformed boys in all three
streams – Arts, Commerce, and Science. The overall pass percentages were 84.05%
in Arts, 81.40% in Commerce, and 76.54% in Science.
- A particularly heartening achievement was the performance of
students from Government Higher Secondary Schools, with three students securing
positions in the merit list in the Arts and Commerce streams.
- A student from GHSS Jotsoma secured the 1st rank in the Arts
stream – marking the first time a student from a government school has achieved
this feat. In the CWSN category, 8 out of 14 candidates successfully cleared
the HSSLC exam.

congratulations to the successful students. “Congratulations to all who have
successfully cleared the HSLC & HSSLC examinations 2025 under
@nbsenagaland. Your achievement is a testament to your dedication, hard work,
& pursuit of excellence. I encourage those who couldn't clear the exams to
stay determined & not lose hope,” he wrote in a post on X.
