Kohima, August 28
HQ IGAR (North), Barak Football Club, Orion Football Club and District Executive Force (DEF) Kohima became the last four teams to find the pre-quarter final berth defeating respective rivals in today’s matches of the ongoing 20th Classic Cup 2014 at Kohima Local Ground.
Playing the first match, HQ IGAR(N) blanked Chedema Football Club by three goals. Demo, Ephrain Zofa and AI Singh contributed the goals for the camouflaged players.Former champions of Nagaland Premier League and runners-up of 2012 edition of Classic Cup, Barak FC had a close fight with Twenty XI FC Viswema, but won the match with a goal margin.
Myithong Magh gave Barak the lead but which was equalized by Metol Neikha. However, the former champs managed to take lead again in the first half itself through Nzauhut Nbung. In the second half, Barak could have added two more scores, but it was Nzauhut disappointingly missing two penalty spot kicks and win the match by 2-1.
In the third match, Orion FC won over Kohima Village Youth Organisation with the first half solitary goal scored by Chiesie Nyusou while in DEF Kohima knocked Billy Graham FC (B) by 2-1. Imlitemsu Ao scored both the goals for the cops while Asian Kamai netted one for Billy Graham.
