HQ IGAR (North) overcame Pfuratsie FC 2-0 to enter the second round of the ongoing 21st Classic Cup Tournament held at Kohima Local Ground under the theme “Championing the true spirit of the game”.
Ephrim Zafo of HQ IGAR (North) netted the first goal for his team. Pfuratsie FC players fought back to stay in the game, but their hopes was shattered as Abel Sema went on to score the second goal for IGAR to take his team to the next round.
Playing the second match of the day, Dzüvürü XI downed New Market (B) 3-1 to advance to the next round.
Dzüvürü FC took the lead in the first half through Lenshong. Zadutol Phinyo scored the second goal for his team before the interval.Entering the second half, Povil Phinyo got past the keeper to take the score line to 3-0. Entering the final minutes, New Market (B) also found a face saving goal through Akhrielie to make it 3-1.
In the third match, Alpha Squad also registered their entry to the next round after their victory over Prege FC by 2-1.
Alpha scored through Neisezolie Thevo and Ruokuozhazo Keyho, while Kevizapu scored for Prege FC.
