Dimapur, Nov. 13 (EMN): Sony’s PS5 Dualsense controller boasts a number of advanced features like adaptive triggers and impressive haptic feedback. It also has a headphone jack and an internal microphone. One particular quirk of the new PS5 Dualsense controller is that the internal microphone doesn’t have a default mute state, something which may annoy a lot of players from a privacy point of view.
However, if you don’t want your PS5 controller to listen to your background audio and you want to game like a silent assassin, you have two options.
The first option is to press the button above the PlayStation icon and your PS5 controller will be muted. Keep in mind that this option is only temporary and the microphone will default back to its ‘always on’ mode once to switch the PS5 controller on and off.
The second option is a more permanent one and for that you first need to go to the PS5 settings menu on the top right corner. From there, scroll down to the "Sound" menu, and then select the "Microphone" option.
Finally, select the option "Microphone status when logged in" and you'll be able to toggle the microphone to be muted on default whenever you power your PS5 console on.
Follow the instructions as laid out above and you can rest assured that other players will not be able to pick off any unwanted background noise.
