Houses gutted in Signal Basti and Samziuram

Dimapur, Feb. 23 (EMN):
One warehouse, located near the evening market at Signal Basti was razed to the ground in a devastating fire which broke at around 2 pm on Tuesday afternoon.

Sources from the Fire and Emergency Services informed Eastern Mirror that one house was razed to the ground in a devastating fire in Signal Evening market. It was informed that household items brought from Delhi were destroyed in the fire.

While the cause of fire was yet to be ascertained at the time of filing this report, sources informed that properties worth an approximate of INR 10 lakh was lost in the inferno. It further informed that two fire tenders from Central Fire Station and two from West Fire station were pressed into service following receipt of the information.

While there was no report of any casualty, it stated that the fire personnel took about 30 minutes to douse the fire.

In a separate incident, one kutcha house was gutted in a fire which broke out at Samziuram village ‘B’ Block, Jalukie sub-division, in Peren district on February 22.

According to the Fire and Emergency Services, the fire broke out at around 4:48 pm at Samziuram village ‘B’ Block. It added that properties worth INR 1.50 lakh was lost in the fire, while corresponding properties worth INR 50.000 could be salvaged.

It added that the timely intervention from the Fire and Emergency Services prevented the fire from spreading to surrounding areas.
