Hospitals in Mokokchung condemn damage of property at healthcare facility
DIMAPUR — The hospital authorities of Dr. Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital, Mokokchung, and Chest Diseases and TB Hospital, Mokokchung, have expressed deep concern over the damage to hospital property, allegedly by a mob on Wednesday evening.
Condemning the incident in a joint statement, the medical superintendents of the two hospitals asserted that such acts of violence and vandalism not only pose a threat to the well-being of patients and staff but also inflict enduring harm upon essential healthcare infrastructure that served the community in times of need.
Hospitals are revered as sanctuaries of healing, where compassion and care should prevail, rather than chaos and destruction, they asserted.
“The reprehensible behaviour exhibited by the mob not only undermines the values of respect, empathy and co-operation that are at the core of any civilised society but also jeopardises the healthcare ecosystem,” read the condemnation note.
It also expressed hope that individuals and organisations alike will denounce such acts and treat public property as their own, in order to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
