Hospitality training to promote rural tourism underway

DIMAPUR — A three-day hospitality training for homestays to promote rural tourism got underway at Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI) in New Peren on October 16.

The training is being organised by the Peren district administration and Peren District Skill Committee, in collaboration with the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) and GHE Impact Ventures. A DIPR report stated that SIDBI has funded the training programme.

The deputy commissioner of Peren, Vineet Kumar, who inaugurated the training, expressed confidence that it would enhance the knowledge and skills of existing homestays. He stated that the training would empower the participants to effectively manage their homestays and rural destinations.

The primary aim and objective of the training, according to him, was to provide existing homestays with formalised training in aspects such as guest services, hospitality, registration, and gastronomy and ultimately contributing to the promotion of tourism in the district.

The DC has stressed the integral role that homestays play within the community, by providing economic and social support to the rural population.

On the occasion, Simarpreet Kaur and Dinesh Menaria from GHE Impact Ventures, highlighted the importance of homestay skills in bolstering rural tourism.

Lily Lotha, director of RSETI, delivered the welcome address, while Rameez Roshan from MGNF, Peren, delivered the vote of thanks.
