Horticulture advisor visits Sungro range

Dimapur, Dec. 12 (EMN): Advisor of Horticulture and Border Affairs, Mhathung Yanthan, along with the head of offices of various government departments in Wokha district, visited Aree Old and New village on December 10 with the purpose to oversee implementation of government projects in the area.

At Aree Old, which is an aspirational village under his constituency, the advisor held a series of meeting with villagers to take stock of the status pertaining to the implementation of various developmental programmes. He also visited various projects sites in the village before leaving for Aree New, a DIPR report stated on Saturday.

On December 11, a team led by the advisor visited Okotso village and inaugurated horticultural link road, rural market and the village community hall.

Addressing the gathering, Yanthan reminded the villagers to make the best use of the rich natural resources with the support extended by the government through various departments’ programmes and policies. The advisor appreciated the villagers for successful implementation of the projects and hoped that the facilities would be utilised effectively for their economic uplift.

Later, the advisor attended an inaugural programme of the 30th edition of Sungro Range Youth Sports Association Meet 2020 as the special guest and declared the meet opened.

The advisor and the visiting officials also undertook a trip to Hayili area under Pangti village for better understanding of the area and visited an old abandoned irrigation project.

It stated that the village elders present at the site made an appeal to help them revive cultivation by providing necessary facilities. It further stated that the visiting team assured them of all possible support for reclamation of the abandoned fields and for productive utilisation of the entire area.
