Hornbill International Rock Contest 2013 kick-starts with fervor

Popular Mumbai based record label, Venus (records & tapes manufacturing company), has offered to record two albums on Hornbill International Rock Contest 2013. This was announced by Parwez Dewan, Secretary to Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, while officially launching the Hornbill International Rock Contest 2013 here Friday evening at Naga Solidarity Park, Kohima. The official disclosed that he had spoken to the CMD of Venus records, Ganesh Jain, prior to the launch of the event, and the latter offered to record two CDs- one for the winner of the Hornbill International Rock Contest 2013 and another with each track of the nine finalist bands of the contest.Dewan was all praises for the Hornbill Festival, saying that the event is one occasion where all good things are happening. He lauded the state government for promoting tourism through this festival and expressed hope that the event will grow from strength to strength. He also acknowledged that there is a huge media coverage on the Hornbill Festival nationwide and people in Delhi are abuzz about Nagaland and this event. Meanwhile, seven bands participated on the first day of the Hornbill International Rock Contest 2013 (screening round) on Friday- Dead NOTE from Shillong, Circle’s End from Darjeeling, We The Giants from Nagaland, Infuse, also from Nagaland, Street Stories from Shillong, Sycorax from Darjeeling and Ground Zero from Kalimpong (Darjeeling).The judges of the event are Ashutosh, Purab Kohli and Dirang Lungalang. The screening rounds will continue till December 9 and the grand finale will take place on December 10. The Hornbill International Rock Contest 2013 is also a part of the annual Hornbill Festival, organized by Music Task Force, department of Youth Resources & Sports and XL as the event managers.
