Hornbill International Music Festival 2018 kicks off in Dimapur[/caption]

What began as one of the biggest music festivals in India has undoubtedly been a crowd puller from different walks of life over the years.
The Hornbill International Music Festival (HIMF) 2018 kicked off its first day at Agri Expo in Dimapur on Dec. 1.
The 10 day festival will have 24 bands which will include 5 from Nagaland.
Gugs Chishi, Consultant, Music Task Force (MTF), declared the 10-day HIMF open, and conveyed CM's greetings to all.
Chishi said that the music festival was about celebrating Nagaland and the youthful talent and to push limits amongst the best in the country.
The first day saw 5 bands from Nagaland namely Cosmic Impact, Annie's OK, Avancer, Papersky and Lords of Rock.
The music festival was previously held in the state capital, Kohima till 2016 and shifted to Dimapur in 2017.
A press statement from the chief's minister's office last year informed that the reason for the shift from Kohima to Dimapur was primarily on account of the desire to let other districts be part of the Hornbill Festival.
Speaking to
Eastern Mirror, Gugs Chishi said that the previous years response was good in Dimapur and this year he hoped the youth will come together and create a festival of glorious music.
Apart from the concert, 32 stalls were also set up to satisfy the hunger pangs of the scores of people that attended the show on day 1.
A member of LIVeNOW -- the event management group of the festival -- said that this year the number of stalls were reduced so every entrepreneur that put up the stalls can earn profit.
