Kohima, Nov. 30 (EMN): The much-awaited Hornbill Festival 2019 begins today, here at the Heritage Village in Kisama, from 4 pm.
Governor of Nagaland RN Ravi will be the chief host while Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio will be the host of the event.
The programme will commence with an invocation by Rev. Kuzierang Thou, state chaplain, followed by traditional blessings by Mongtei from Aniashu village of Khiamniungan community.
Ravi will deliver a welcome address while advisor to Tourism, Art and Culture, Khehovi Yepthomi, will felicitate guests and invitees. After the formal programme, there will be a ‘walk in Kisama’ visiting the Bamboo Pavilion and traditional morungs.
Statehood Day event in the morning
Nagaland will observe the 57th Statehood Day at Kohima local ground today. The programme will start at 8.30 am. Chief minister Neiphiu Rio will address the citizens on the occasion. During the programme, the Nagaland Police Uniform Code will be released followed by presentation of award to winner of Gordon Graham Prize for Literature.
