IMPHAL,April 13: Manipur Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh on Thursday said the surrender policy for the rehabilitation of the surrendered militants to join the mainstream will be reviewed.
Chief Minister conveyed this at a homecoming ceremony of the two cadres of proscribed People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (Pro) who formally surrendered to him at his secretariat this evening. Biren said that the new surrender policy would accommodate more humane features and assured that the government would give protection and shelter to the property, lives and families of those who have surrendered to the government to join the mainstream.
He appreciated the two surrendered cadres for joining the mainstream having faith in the new government and hoped that more will follow the suit.
The two surrendered PREPAK (Pro) cadres are Sergeant Major Salam Sitoljit alias Seven Kumar alias Seven Star Singh(28) son of Phulchand of Uripok Khumanthem Leikai and Self style Corporal Pebam Bishorjit alias Tomcha Singh (24) son of P Rojit Singh of Kiyamgei Awang Leikai. The former came from Eastern Nagaland, B2 Camp Taka, Myanmar and the latter came from Nongket, NCTF (Nongpok Chingkhei Task Force), Myanmar camps to join the mainstream.
The day’s homecoming ceremony was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Yumnam Joykumar and Cabinet Ministers, Parliamentary Secretaries, DGP Manipur, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) and other top ranking police officials.
