Home Guards asked to maintain physical fitness

Dimapur, Dec. 4 (EMN): The Commandant General of the Home Guards and Civil Defence (HG&CD), L Bendang Lemtur has urged the personnel to maintain physical fitness and make it a part of their lifestyle.

Lemtur stated this while speaking at the annual raising day and sports meeting of the HG&CD, which got underway at the Central Training Institute(CTI) at Toluvi in Dimapur on December 2. Lemtur emphasised on the benefits of participation rather than winning, an update from the training institute stated on Tuesday.

While encouraging the participants to do their best, he also stressed upon the importance of maintaining discipline and camaraderie which are the qualities of a true sportsman.

The inaugural programme was chaired by Y Khenito Chishi, district commandant, while Asemba, pastor of HG&CD Baptist Church, CTI, said the invocation and CTI commandant, S Rotokha Zhimomi, delivered the welcome address.

Mokokchung district commandant, Mulai Lamniah administered the oath to the participants and the meet was declared opened by L Bendang Lemtur.

An update added that the week-long professional and sports event would culminate on December 6 coinciding with the Raising Day of the Home Guards and Civil Defence.
