Following heavy rockslides in Chümoukedima area and as a precautionary measures to prevent any injury, loss of life and damage to property, the Home department has closed all vehicular movement from Chathe River Bridge (Patkai Bridge) to Khuokhi River Bridge from February 2 till further orders.

In an advisory issued on Thursday, the principal secretary Abhijit Sinha has advised anyone wishing to travel from Dimapur to Kohima or Manipur in a light and medium vehicle to take an alternative route via 7th Mile (Chümoukedima)- New DC office- Shokhuvi- Razaphe- Mhaikam- Pimla-Mhainamtsi- Jhornapani/ Medziphema and vice versa.

He stated that the mentioned alternative route will be only for the movement of medium and light vehicles, adding heavy vehicles would not be permitted to travel.

For movement of all heavy vehicles carrying essential commodities towards Kohima and Manipur, the principal secretary has advised all concerned to make temporary arrangements through Merapani- Doyang- Wokha (NH-2)- Kohima. He further advised heavy vehicles coming from north of Assam bound for Kohima and beyond to take the same route.
