Dimapur, May 9 (EMN): In a solemn wreath laying ceremony conducted in the true traditions of the Indian Armed Forces, homage was paid to the two heroes of the Army who were martyred in an IED blast near Moreh, Manipur yesterday, reported through a press release.
Wreaths were laid by Shri N Biren Singh, Chief Minister of Manipur, L M Khaute, IPS, DGP Manipur, Maj Gen Virendra Singh, VSM, IGAR (South), Clay Khongsai, IPS, IGP Manipur, Brig S K S Chauhan, Dy GOC Red Shield Division, Kabib K, SP, Imphal East & N Herojit Meetei, SP, Imphal West to honour the valiant soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty while fighting insurgents in Manipur.
The military funeral of Naik Voreso was held at Imphal and that of Sepoy Arjun Baral at Limakong.
Nk Voreso Hungeyo hails from Leishupgung Village, Senapati District and is survived by his wife Ivey Hungeyo and a son aged 12 years. Sepoy Arjun Baral hails from Kobruleikha, Senapati and is survived by his father Tankanth Baral and two brothers.
Manipur CM vows to hunt down killers
Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh on Tuesday vowed to hunt down the militants who ambushed and killed two soldiers a day earlier in an area bordering Myanmar. Biren Singh was speaking on the sidelines of a condolence function at the “B” company headquarters of 165 Territorial Army at Koirengei near Imphal. The Chief Minister laid wreaths at the coffins of the two slain soldiers. He met members of the bereaved families. The killings took place in the border district of Tengoupal on Monday.
Biren Singh said: “Security forces and intelligence agencies are working overtime to identify and round up the militants responsible for the attack. “We strongly condemn the ambush. Once the militants are rounded up, they will be punished under the law of the land.”
There has been no claim from any banned underground outfit regarding the Monday attack.
