Hit-and-run driver still at large in Dimapur
DIMAPUR — Police are searching for a truck driver involved in a recent hit-and-run incident that left a cyclist seriously injured on the Dimapur-Shokhuvi road.
According to a police officer, the driver, who was operating a truck belonging to the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), fled the scene after hitting the 32-year-old cyclist around 5:30 pm on September 9.
He said that the driver “has still not surrendered, and so the police is pursuing the NHIDCL to let the accuse surrender.”

The victim, he said, was seriously injured and remains hospitalised at the Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR) but is now out of danger.
The cause of the accident, whether due to speeding, technical issues, or other factors, remains under investigation. Police have registered a case at the Chümoukedima police station, the officer said.
He further expressed concern that such accidents occur frequently on the highway.
