Imphal, Sep. 27 (EMN): Hindi is not only the national language of India but it is the identity of one India. Like the thread in a garland that holds varieties of flower, Hindi brings closeness among the Indians, said Manipur Education Minister Thokchom Radheshyam.

The minister was speaking at the 42nd Akhil Bharatiya Nagari Lipi Sammelan, a two-day annual conference on Friday at S Kula Women’s College Namnol in Manipur’s Bishnupur district.

“Hindi is the medium through which we as Indians communicate in every part of the country. It is the medium through which our thoughts and views are expressed though we have diverse mother languages,” he said.

Pointing out that language becomes a barrier when the students go out of the state for further studies and metro cities, he encouraged the younger generations to learn Hindi.

Hindi scholars namely Kh Nabakumar Singh of Rashtrabhasha Shikshan Sansthan Ningthoukhong; Dr. Suresh Chand Shukla, Norway; Dr. Sudarshan Dhungana, Nepal; Dr. Manita Neupane, Nepal; Dr. Leena Mahendale, Maharastra; and Thingujam Shyam Kishore Singh, Manipur were honoured for their contributions to the field of uplifting and popularising the Hindi language.

The programme is being organised under the aegis of Nagari Lipi Parishad New Delhi, Nagari Lipi Parishad Manipur Shakha and S Kula Women’s College.
