‘Himalayan states must work together’

UNION Minister of State for Minority Affairs Ninong Ering said the Himalayan states of the country need to have a will to work together for sustainable development of the areas in the country.
Giving his special remarks during the valedictory function of the 3-day Sustainable Mountain Development Summit (SMDS-III) here tonight, Ering said the people and the governments of the regions need to have an objective for sustainable development to happen in the areas. He pointed out that the recent major natural calamities in various mountain states have triggered serious thoughts on how such disasters can be prevented.
Being a Union Minister from the North East, he said the NE region has lots of problems from unemployment to corruption to drug abuse etc. Nonetheless, taking up such challenges with unity and oneness, the region has to move forward to bring about better development, he stated. Expressing that such summits are the need of the hour to bring about better manageable policies, Ering assured all possible help as the Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs.
