Hika Ayemi wins 9th Snooker Championship

Hika Ayemi from Dimapur has lifted the champion 9th Atou Memorial Open Snooker Championship.
Ayemi defeated closest rival Seyiekhrielie Zao from Kohima by 3-1 in the grand finale held this evening at Atou Pool House, Kohima to walk-away with cash prize of Rs. 15,000 with commendation certificate and running trophy.Runners-up Seyiekhrielie Zao received cash Rs. 10,000 with commendation certificate and trophy while third place winner Diesie Khruomo got Rs. 7000 with commendation certificate and trophy. Kekhreineizo Ziephrü was placed fourth place.
The highest break point award went to Filoka Chishi, Dimapur for 28 points. He received Rs. 4000 cash with trophy and citation while most promising player award went to Hrüvilo (12 years) with Rs. 1000.
Gracing the valedictory function as the guest of honour, SDPO Kohima Shouka Kakheto gave away the awards to the winners.
Encouraging the participants, he said that Snooker is a game without any bar on age or height therefore Nagas can take up the game professionally.
He lauded the parents and family members of Ketoulhou (Atou) Keditsu and Atou Pool House Club Kohima for organizing the tournament thereby giving a platform for the youth to come together in a competitive spirit.
A total of 37 participants from different parts of the state competed in the two day event, which began yesterday with Minister for Youth Resources & Sports Merentoshi R Jamir as the chief guest of the inaugural function.
The closing function was chaired by president of Atou Pool House Club, Bendang.
