Kohima, June 14 (EMN): In a significant move, a memorandum of understand was signed between Reliance JIO and Directorate of Higher Education to connect the affiliated colleges and institutions with JIO net, the high-speed internet wi-fi brought by JIO.
Accordingly college students of 17 colleges across the state can now look forward to experiencing JIO Digital Life as JioNet is all set to turn these into ‘Digital Campuses’.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed and exchanged between Director of Higher Education, Kuholi Chishi and Vice president of the Reliance Corporate Park, Balasubramaniam Iyer, this afternoon at the conference hall of Directorate of Higher Education.
In a short address, Iyer said Naga youths will experience a revolutionary change of high speed digital life in the college campuses, making the classroom more interesting with discussion and interaction.
Through this service, he said the students can now have access and connect with the rest of the students across the universities in the country and abroad. They can access lectures, videos, notes, information etc to expand their knowledge.
Iyer opined that Naga students should not be left out in availing it’s services and move out from the old method of teaching and engage more in discussion and interaction among the students.
Terming the signing of MoU as a historic occasion, Director, Chishi was optimistic that it will bring enormous benefits to the college students through exposure to a vast pool of knowledge from across the universities in the country.
This project is part of skill development initiative of the Nagaland state government, which seeks to digitally empower the youth with the power of data. While JIO net will provide high speed internet on these campuses, JIO will also set up labs on these colleges campuses which will enable students to undergo specialised training programmes aimed at developing their skills in this field.
JIO is spearheading digital transformation of the country with its highly advanced 4G-LTE end to end IP based network. The youth of Nagaland, it said can make use of this growing digital economy to achieve their dreams.
It was also informed that those colleges interested in becoming ‘digital campuses’ can apply for JIO net through http://www.jio.com/digitalcampus,which may be used by any student or college member.
