Dimapur, March 8 (EMN):
Commissioner of Police Dimapur, Rothihu Tetseo on Monday urged the police personnel to undergo yearly medical check –up, especially those above the age of 45.

Tetseo stated this during a health awareness camp organised to commemorate International Women’s Day at the office of the deputy commissioner of police, zone-II, Dimapur on March 8.

The health awareness camp session was conducted by Dr. Nitin Agarwal and Dr. Khushboo Agarwal.

Tetseo added that having a health awareness camp was important for the Police department and due to their busy schedule, most of the police personnel do not go for yearly medical check-ups.

He asserted that others go for ‘healthy food but Nagas go for tasty food’ and added that all tasty foods are not good for health and it was high time for people to choose healthy food.

The commissioner of police encouraged the police personnel to inculcate the habit of exercise and be an example for the people.

Tetseo pointed that the percentage of women in government employment has increased from 21 percent to 30 percent in the year 2018 according to the statistical data issued by the government of Nagaland. He informed that there were 78 women representatives in the parliament but lamented that there was not a single women representative from Nagaland.

Therefore, Tetseo encouraged women to ‘face the reality and challenges.’

‘Looking at the world, 24 percent of president and prime ministerial positions are held by women,” he said and also advised the women police personnel to know the history of women police.

Tetseo said that though it was a short programme, it was a significant event.

Speaking on the occasion, president of Rotary Club Dimapur, Kitoshi Zhimomi said that even though people say that Naga society is equal, there are lot of barriers and ‘today this barrier of glass wall is broken’.

Zhimomi said that from challenge comes change and encouraged women to support one another in every field. She added that everything a woman does makes a difference and every woman’s success should be an inspiration to other women.

President of Inner Wheel Club Dimapur, Sanjukta Bhattarcharjee said that a ‘challenged world is an alert world’ and added that Northeast India is a better place compared to other states in regard to status of women at home or in society.

Bhattarcharjee added that in a cosmopolitian city like Dimapur, the need of a women police station is quite demanding. She further acknowledged the women police of Nagaland for doing a commendable job .
