DIMAPUR — The 4th edition of Hezukhu Memorial Trophy kicked off on Tuesday at the District Sports Council ground, Zunheboto, with Advisor for Food and Civil Supplies and LMCP, KT Sukhalu, as special guest.
The trophy is organised by the Zunheboto District Football Association, a DIPR report stated.
The advisor, in his speech, advised the players that in order to be a professional player, one must be committed, disciplined and maintain a proper diet.
Noting the increasing rate of school dropouts and unemployment amongst the youth, Sukhalu encouraged the youth to also focus on skill development and entrepreneurship.
On the use of abusive substances and alcohol in the district, he advised the youth to abstain from such habits if they want to become sports professionals.
Citing that most development activities are being hampered because of land compensation issues, the advisor also requested the GBs and elders, especially the land owners, to come and work together if they want development to come to the district,
Sukhalu further urged the organisers to conduct talent hunt in sports and to send the names of talented players to him so that he would try to do whatever possible, to make them achieve their goals.
Altogether, nine teams are competing in the tournament scheduled from Nov. 21to the 27th.
