DIMAPUR — Nagaland's Muaythai coach, Khru Hemavi Ayemi, has been appointed to lead the Indian National Muaythai Team at the IFMA Senior World Muaythai Championship 2026, scheduled to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from June 16 to the 26th.
This marks the fifth time that the former three-time National Muaythai Champion Ayemi, who hails from Shozukhu village in Dimapur, has been entrusted with the responsibility of coaching the national team at an international championship, stated an update.
Currently serving as the National Senior Muaythai Team Coach (India) for the term 2025–2029 under the United Muaythai Association India (UMAI), Ayemi has guided more than 20 Indian athletes to international medals.
His achievements include receiving the Best Coach Award at the East Asian Muaythai Championship 2023 in Hong Kong.
Ayemi's international coaching experience spans several major events, including the IFMA World Championship 2023 in Thailand, the East Asian Muaythai Championship 2023 and 2024 in Hong Kong, and the Buddha Nilkantha International Fight Night in Nepal.
Additionally, he is a 14th Khan Level Certified Coach under the International Federation of Muaythai Associations (IFMA) and recently completed the Muaythai Instructor Training Course in Pattaya, Thailand, conducted by the Sports Authority of Thailand.
