This was disclosed by HNB team during a press conference held at Alder Retreat on Saturday in Kohima.

She informed that relief in the form of pulse oximeters, oxygen cylinder, oxygen concentrators, PPE kits, sanitisers, facemasks etc. worth INR 13034550 and cash amounting to INR 2525960 was received from NGO, philanthropists, volunteers etc. basing in India and other countries such as United States, UK, Ireland, Spain and Vietnam.

Jamir apprised on how they have distributed medical supplies to the district hospitals, CHC and PHC in all the 12 districts of Nagaland. She also stated how they worked in different groups to ensure that the supplies reached the beneficiaries.

She also explained that they had six priority areas where they looked at the positivity rate of Covid-19 cases in different places and accordingly supplied the requirements.

Informing how HNB was initiated by over 45 volunteers from Nagaland based in India and abroad consisting of medical doctors, lawyers, engineers, public administration officials, students, development practitioners etc, she stated they worked in different time zones while all the different projects were done virtually.

‘Despite the need to tend to professional work and careers, a lot of us had to paused and look to this as it was not easy to execute,” she shared.

It was also informed that bad road condition posed a challenge for the team in delivering the consignments to different districts.

Kekhrie Mezhür Sekhose informed how they had to hire private vehicles to send the materials to concerned places. Apart from the relief consignments, he informed that they had procured food rations for the needy during their campaign.

Sekhose stated that with the successful conclusion of the humanitarian campaign, they had called the press conference to thank their well wishers, supporters, well- wishers, donors, the government and medical officials and all concerned for the “overwhelming generosity” shown during the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic.

“This campaign has been successfully ended because of the trust and faith placed in us by all of them,” he said, adding how they received the items and cash more than they anticipated.

Saturday was also the day of closing their campaign officially. It was informed that many of their friends couldn’t be present on the occasion since most of them were scattered in different parts of the country and elsewhere at overseas.

“With all of us working in different parts of the country and the world, it was not easy in executing the work. To be present in the virtual meeting was very new to all of us and putting whatever is said in the meeting into work was quite a challenge for us,” said Aolemla Imsong from digital communications, HNB.

“Despite all of us are in different parts of the country and the world, being a part of the campaign somehow stumbling our way through it while making errors, at the same time correcting them, has given us a lot of hope that people can work together without actually being physically present together,’  she added.

“We don’t have to be together to actually accomplish things. We can be in any part of the country and the world and still get things done,” she opined.

“To bring a change or to make a difference be it in Nagaland or anywhere, all it needs is a group of people with similar passion and intention. We all have different personalities and from various places but, we all had a common goal during the second wave of Covid-19,” said Zhapuvi Liegise from logistics and procurement, HNB.

Meanwhile, HNB also has a reminder to all the citizens of Nagaland to be cautious and take all the necessary precautions against Covid-19 that have been laid down.

“It has been two years and everyone is exhausted following the protocols and do’s and don’ts. But the way forward now till the end of the pandemic is to follow the safety measures like masking, social distancing and getting vaccinated which is the only way out to be protected at this current state,” said Kezhosano Kikhi, from legal and finance, HNB.
