Hekani Jakhalu emphasises on hard work, consistency to achieve success
KOHIMA — Advisor of Industries and Commerce, Hekani Jakhalu, emphasised on the need to work hard while remaining consistent and looking to God in order to become successful in life.
Hekani Jakhalu was speaking during the valedictory session of the three-day 30th biennial general conference of Angami Students’ Union (ASU) held from April 28 to the 30th at Tuophema village in Kohima.
Jakhalu, reminding that there is no other option, alternative or substitute for hard work, said the real world awaits the students once they complete their studies.
She therefore asked the students not to waste time but be diligent so that they may be successful in the future. She said some were extremely hard working and some lazy while recalling how she had worked with young people for the past 17 years.
To be successful, the advisor also reminded the youngsters to be consistent towards their dreams while having God as a foundation in their life.
Later in the evening, the Election Commission, ASU announced the names of the executive council of the next term.
Khriesamhalie David Mere will lead the new team of ASU for 2023-2025 as the president; vice presidents Thejalhoukho Khawakhrie (HQ), Dziezevisie Nakhro (General); general secretary Vimeyiekho Vitso; asst.general secretary Azha Mezhü; secretary finance Menolhousie Tsükrü; secretary sports Metobo-o Sote; secretary education Asato Paphino; secretary literature Seyielhousa Keyho; secretary publicity and info. Peleviso Viyie; secretary art and culture Seyieluolie Sanchu; secretary environment, health and sanitation Visieto Visezuo; treasurer – Ketholezo Rino; auditor general – Kekhrievotso Medoze.
Under the assembly secretariat of ASU, Zhasakholie Kehie will be the speaker, Zhovito Rikha deputy speaker and Viketouzo Yashü assembly secretary.
Names for secretary library and archives and women affairs are yet to be announced.
Earlier during the day, Rev. Fr. Dr. Pezalhoukho George Rino, post graduate coordinator, St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Jakhama spoke during the devotional service.
