MOKOKCHUNG — As part of the 16 Days of Activism under the HeForShe campaign, an awareness programme was conducted at Town Hall, Mokokchung, for the Two-Wheelers Taxi Association, on Thursday.


The event was jointly organised by SANKALP- District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW)-Mission Shakti and the district administration to promote gender equality and strengthen community involvement for prevention of violence against women and children.


The programme was chaired by Moamenla Longkumer, district mission coordinator, SANKALP DHEW - Mission Shakti, who emphasised the importance of ensuring the safety and security of women in the district.


She also highlighted the availability of emergency helpline contact numbers and support services for women and children, encouraging participants to be vigilant and proactive in reporting any incidents of violence.

Ajay Moktan, Assistant Commissioner of Mokokchung, attended the event as the special guest. In his address, he appreciated the Two-Wheelers Taxi Association for maintaining zero reported cases of violence against women and urged them to continue being responsible citizens. Moktan further encouraged them to act as ambassadors of change in promoting gender sensitivity and equality within the community.


As part of the campaign’s safety initiative, stickers bearing emergency contact numbers were also pasted on all the two-wheeler taxis to ensure quick access to help in times of need.


The event concluded with a collective pledge by the participants to stand against gender-based violence and support the cause of equal rights and safety for all.
