Dimapur, Sep. 28 (EMN): Heavy rain has wreaked havoc across several parts of the country in the last few days and there is no respite in sight with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting more rain as withdrawal of monsoon has been delayed.

All India weather warning bulletin issued by IMD on September 28 has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in Nagaland from Sunday, September 29 to October 2.

The IMD has said that extremely heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places over Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Gujarat region on September 29; heavy to very rainfall over Saurashtra, Kutch, east Rajasthan, Gangetic West Bengal and Assam and Meghalaya; and heavy rainfall at isolated places over Uttarakhand, east Uttar Pradesh, west Rajasthan, Jharkhand, south Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.

It has advised fishermen not to venture into Gujarat coast and adjoining northeast Arabian Sea, southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining equatorial Indian Ocean, and Comorin area, saying that squally weather is likely in these areas.

The Met department has said that Assam and Meghalaya could witness extremely heavy rainfall on September 30, while places like Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, east Rajasthan, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Gujarat region may receive heavy to very heavy rainfall. Heavy rainfall is also expected over Kerala, Mahe, Saurashtra, Kutch, Madhya Pradesh and Arunachal Pradesh.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on October 1. Places like Kerala, Mahe, Gujarat region, Punjab, east Rajasthan, Assam, Meghalaya, Haryana and Chandigarh are also expected to receive heavy rainfall.

On October 2, heavy rainfall has been forecast at isolated places over Kerala, Mahe, south interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema, east Rajasthan, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.

KS Hosalikar, deputy director general of meteorology at the India Meteorological Department, has informed via twitter on Saturday that low pressure has been formed in NE Arabian Sea of the coast of Surashtra and severe weather alerts have been issued for the next four days in Gujarat.

“As on date, September 26, countrywide rainfall figure is 107%, which is ‘above normal rainfall’ category,” Hosalikar had tweeted earlier.
