Healthcare workers in Mokokchung trained on oral health
DIMAPUR — National Oral Health Programme (NOHP) organised a one-day training on oral health for healthcare workers of Ongpangkong block in Mokokchung district on Friday at the conference hall of the chief medical officer (CMO), Mokokchung.
An update from the CMO office stated that Dr. Kibangkumba, CMO of Mokokchung, welcomed the participants and encouraged them to create awareness among the youngsters on oral health.
It stated that the resource person, Dr. Keneitheja from IMDH, spoke on the main objective of the training aimed at promoting oral health, identify and prevent common oral diseases and give first aid in dental emergency. According to him, the causes of oral disease are sugar consumption, tobacco use, alcohol use and poor hygiene. The common oral diseases are tooth decay, gum disease, irregular death and oral cancer.
Informing that most oral and dental diseases are preventable, he stated that early detection is the key to prevent every oral and dental problem.
