Dimapur, June 30: The Humsafar Trust a community based organization, Mumbai has organised 3 days training program for healthcare providers on sexual and reproductive health of MSM (Men who have sex with men) in collaboration with Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS) under project DIVA with support from United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
The training concluded today in Hotel Lake Shilloi, Dimapur. The Humsafar Trust works in 17 states of India on MSM and transgender rights from past 22 years.
The training workshop was organised with 3 goals: To enable health care providers to provide quality sexual health care services (especially diagnosis and treatment of STIs) to MSM; To understand basic information about human sexual diversities (especially non-heterosexual sexualities; and to understand and address the barriers faced by MSM in accessing clinical services, and what can be done by the doctors.
The main objective of the training program was to reduce and address issue of stigma, discrimination based on sexuality or sexual identity and to make health care provider aware issues of sexual and reproductive health problems of MSM (Men who have sex with men) and transgender person and help them to avail public health facilities.
The training program was attended by team of 14 doctors from different districts of Nagaland. The resource person of training was Dr. Shreyansh Talesra from Mumbai shared extensive knowledge about subject with participant along with Humsafar Trust representative Tinesh Chopade.
