Dimapur, Feb. 1 (EMN): Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Kevekha Kevin Zehol has called upon the health workers to take the Intensive Pulse Polio Immunisation (IPPI) programme on missionary commitment by setting Dimapur district as a model saying it concern the health of the people.
He stated this during the meeting of Dimapur district task force committee held on February 1 in view of the upcoming IPPI and National De-worming Day scheduled to be launched in the state. He has emphasised on the need for proper training of the health workers who would be administering the polio drops in order to serve the purpose.
RCH/UIP district programme officer, Dr. Rebecca, informed that IPPI would be conducted on March 10, where children in the age group of 0-5 years of age would be immunised. She informed that 2076 members including 102 supervisors would oversee and vaccinate the children covering six blocks under medical department of Dimapur district. She also informed that only a single round of IPPI would be conducted this year.
She further informed that the National De-worming Day has been scheduled on February 8 in order to address nutritional impairment, anaemia, nausea, vomiting, weakness etc to adolescent children between 10 - 19 years of age.
Also speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rebecca informed that children who could not be de-wormed on the National De-worming Day would be given another chance on February 14.
In the meeting, UNDP project officer has highlighted on the maintenance, storage, regulation of required temperature of the vaccines. He stated that such measures were taken so that the qualities of vaccines are not compromised.
The meeting, held in the DC’s conference hall, Dimapur, was attended by all the stakeholders including the Rotary Club who are the official partner of IPPI programme.
