Dimapur, June 10 (EMN): Office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Phek, organised a hands on training and sensitisation on handling and management of Covid dead body, ILI, Sari and Covid vaccination on June 10 at Dr. Wethselo T Mero memorial hall, District Hospital, Phek.
In his keynote address, the CMO Dr. Khriezotuo Paphino briefed the participants on the objective of the training and urged the gatherings to actively participate in all the topics and gain knowledge at this crucial time, an update from CMO’s office stated.
The resource persons were senior specialists from District Hospital namely Dr. Visietsolie Vupru and Dr. Ngopelo Keviechu, and Dr. Kolhitso Khalo, DPO RCH/UIP Phek.
It stated that Dr. Visietsolie Vupru has oriented the participants on donning and doffing of PPEs and how to handle Covid dead body at all levels, while Dr. Ngopelo has emphasised on the signs and symptoms of ILI and Sari and the need to conduct surveillance at village levels by ASHAs, AWWs and SHGs.
Dr. Kolhitso has shared the data of Covid vaccination coverage in the district. He also urged the participants to spread awareness to get vaccinated which is safe and has highly efficacy and the most effective means to fight against Covid-19. He appealed to the gathering not to spread rumours and misinformation in social media.
He further informed that out of 13 Covid deaths in the district, only one has taken 1st dose of Covid vaccine. He added that one should take Covid vaccine on priority at this juncture.
During the interaction session, queries and doubts from the participants were explained and cleared by the medical officers.
The programme was chaired by Dr. Shevo Hiese, DSO, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Avile Zao, MS of DH Phek.
The training was attended by medical officers, community health officers, members of Phek Town Council (PTC), SDRF staff and police personnel.
