Health minister inspects Covid-19 preparedness at Jalukie

Dimapur, May 22 (EMN): Minister for Health and Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom on Friday visited the Community Health Centre (CHC), at Jalukie, the designated Covid-19 hospital to oversee the preparedness.

According to a DIPR update, the minister was accompanied by advisor to IPR, SCERT & VG, Toshi Wungtung and advisor to Water Resources, Namri Nchang.

During the short briefing session at the CHC Conference Hall, Peren Chief Medical Officer Dr. Denis Hangsing presented a report on the status of the hospital as well as preparedness of quarantine centres. He also highlighted the basic requirements and poor infrastructure of the hospital.

The visiting team inspected isolation ward and the supplied PPE. They also had a meeting with the district task force, Medical department and Joint Action Committee at the Customary Court, ADC office.

Addressing the members, the minister extended his appreciation to the district administration, health department, police personnel, JAC, and all other frontline workers for rendering their selfless services to contain Covid-19 in the district.

“We are in fight against the invisible enemy, so it is our responsibility to find ways and means to prevent ourselves,” he said.

Phom expressed satisfaction on the preparedness of the district and hoped that they will continue the same in the coming days.

Further, the minister called upon all the people to come together in the fight against the global pandemic.

Wungtung spoke on the rational use of PPE and on how to maintain personal and public hygiene. He urged the members present to maintain social distancing and to strictly follow the dos and don’ts issued by the Health department.

Nchang said the state government is trying it’s best to provide the best infrastructure to all the district hospital. He also congratulated all the civil society and churches for coming forward to assist the district administration.
