A press release from the minister's press secretary on Monday offered updates about the visit and about the various interactions he was stated to have had with the health workers there. The minister acknowledged the service of the doctors, nurses and staff of the hospital, the updates stated. Likewise, he was stated to have expressed appreciation for "keeping the hospital clean," according to the press release. The minister asked the staff to strive to make the hospital 'one of the cleanest hospitals in the state.' During interactions with the staffs there, the minister was stated to have informed that a major renovation work in hospital will start soon under the 'NHP project.' He urged the health workers and patients visiting the hospital to 'consider the hospital as one's own property,' the press release explained. The minister was also stated to have said that the hospital will 'support to run' the Nagaland medical college until the 500-bed hospital attached to said college is constructed. Phom said the hospital will play a vital role in 'uplifting' the medical college, the press release stated. On other matters, Phom expressed anguish on 'seeing the rising of land encroachers within hospital.' He said that the "patta" (land deed) issuing authority should carefully verify the land before issuing any deed. He appealed to the citizens to be 'more responsible.' The minister was also stated to have inspected ongoing construction work on the Terci Care Cancer Center. He asked the management to expedite the work 'to make sure that the project complete at the earliest.' Officers of the hospital's management briefed the minister that the work cannot be executed as desired 'due to technical problems and unstable soil,' the updates stated. If not, the updates stated, the contractor is 'ready to go ahead with the work.' The Health minister also expressed his gratitude to the Kohima Ao Baptist Arogo (Kaba) for 'voluntary construction' of a patient's guest house in the hospital's campus. He termed the work and contribution of the Kaba a 'good gesture,' the press release stated.
