Health minister appeals to health workers to be mentally prepared

Dimapur, April 30 (EMN): Health & Family Welfare Minister S Pangnyu Phom has appealed to doctors, nurses and health workers to be mentally prepared and be practical in their assignments.

According to the DIPR report, the minister made this appeal during the review meeting held with the government officers and NGOs leaders of Longleng district at the Deputy Commissioner office complex on Thursday.

Admitting the lack of facilities in all the hospitals across the state, the minister said  that Covid-19 pandemic is a wakeup call for the department and health care workers, to be well prepared and equipped with advanced health care facilities to fight with such pandemic in the future and asserted that working on Covid-19 is like battling with invisible enemies.

He also appealed to the people to be more cautious and take precautionary measures after the lockdown is lifted. 

Phom thanked the Medical department, district administration, police, media, churches, NGOs and civil societies for joining hands and working together to combat Covid-19 pandemic.

The health minister also informed that the central government has approved the up-gradation of the district hospital Longleng with Community Health Centre status to full-fledged district hospital.

He also assured that the problems of the hospital would be taken into consideration after meeting in Kohima.

Citing that the motto of the government was how to save the lives of everyone in Nagaland, he called upon the people to maintain peaceful law and order in the district.

Industries & Commerce Advisor Imnatiba,  MLA B S Nganlang, Deputy Commissioner M Shayung Phom, CMO Longleng, medical superintendent, president of the Phom Peoples’ Council, and Phom Students’ Conference also spoke at the meeting.

The minister accompanied by Imnatiba and Nganlang visited Longleng and inspected Covid-19 hospital, quarantine site at Phom Lempong School, makeshift hospital at Government Higher Secondary School.

Later, the team departed to Tamlu and visited hospital and quarantine centre at GHS Tamlu and  had a meeting with district administration, doctors, nurses, NGOs and civil societies.

In Longleng, the visiting team donated INR 200,000 — Pangnyu and Nganlang INR 1 lakh, Imnatiba INR 50,000, Dr. Longai and Anungla INR 50,000,  towards Longleng District Task Force for Covid-19

Also, the team donated INR 180,000 — Pangnyu INR 60,000, Imnatiba INR 20,000, Nganlang INR 50,000, and Dr. Longai  and Anungla INR 50,000, towards Tamlu Sub-divisional Task Force.
