Health dept. presents healthcare survey findings

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he state’s national health mission has completed a survey covering 11, 275 households and 270 health facilities in the state. The findings of the survey were discussed during a recent workshop in Kohima town and recommendations were presented to the government.
A workshop about the district level health survey was conducted on April 20 and the 21st in the directorate of Health & Family Welfare in Kohima town. Chief medical officers, medical superintendants, and district program officers from the districts attended the event.In his keynote address during the event, the director of Health & Family Welfare department, Dr. Sukhato Sema, said that the workshop was an opportunity to assess the departments’ performances and ‘see how to plan and strategize service delivery’.
State program officer of the national health Mission Dr limakum Jamir highlighted the key findings of the survey which covered 11275 households and 270 health facilities. The workshop discussed the report through technical sessions on maternal health, family planning, child health, non-communicable diseases, immunization, child health, adolescent health, and health system issues. Commissioner & Secretary for Health & Family Welfare, M Patton, and Principal Director Dr Neiketuo Chiesotsu and other directorate officers attended the concluding function.
During the event, joint director Dr Vizolie Suokhrie gave a presentation on the workshop’s recommendations. He stressed on the need to provide maximum support and motivation to key grass root workers. The need of quality workers of various level of health care providers (doctors, nurses, store keepers and ASHAs) was reiterated.
Also, the shortage of technical manpower and their proper placement was a topic addressed to the government during the event. Dr Vizolie Suokhrie also talked about increasing the activities of awareness about health, and community support for villages and nutrition, among others.
In his closing remarks, Commissioner & Secretary M Patton said that with every facility and resources available in hand, there will always be a room for improvement. He assured that the government will discuss the recommendations of the workshop and take action where necessary.
