Dimapur, Nov. 9 (EMN): Office of the chief medical officer (CMO). Kohima, in collaboration with the district health society, conducted a reproductive child health-cum-medical camp at Chedema Model village on November 9.
A press release from the CMO stated that hundreds of people from Chedema and Chedema Model village availed various health services during the health camp.
Speaking on the occasion, CMO Kohima Dr. Laso Lazar, reminded the gathering on the responsibility of every individual in creating health awareness in the society. He stated that health camps are organised in order to provide platform for people to avail the services provided by the department of Health and Family Welfare. He also spoke on the need for community participation in bringing about sustainable healthcare services through their participation and active contribution.
Dr. Laso Lazar urged the villagers to derive the maximum profit from the RCH camp. He expressed gratitude for the huge turn-out of the target group during the camp. He further encouraged the village health committee (VHC) to take initiative on Village Health and Nutrition Day (VHND) and to channelised visit of medical officer to the village once a while.
The CMO also thanked NHAK for allowing a specialist namely Dr. Azo (Gynae & Obs) in rendering his service at the health camp.
Gifts and nutritional packages were distributed to immunised children and pregnant mothers. ASHAs were also acknowledged for their services rendered to the community.
Awareness on Revised National Tuberculosis Program (RNTCP) was delivered by Dr. Asünü Sakhrie (DTO), where she emphasised that persons/ individuals with related symptoms should undergo sputum test for early detection of TB. She stated that adherence to full course treatment with the first line drugs is the key to curing TB and preventing emergence of multi-drug resistance.
A total of 50 lab test for RDT (malaria), seven ANC, and three sputum examinations were conducted during the health camp.
Altogether, 100 inhabitants turned out to avail health services at the RCH camp.
