Harmony Voices wins 2nd Ultimate Hornbill Choir

HARMONIC Voices Kohima has won 2nd Ultimate Hornbill Choir title and bagged cash award of Rs one lakh sponsored by Music Task Force, Nagaland.
The choir was organized by Unlock Productions here at Regional Centre of Excellence for Music and Performing Arts (RCEMPA), Jotsoma here.
Harmonic Voices also bagged the audience Choice Award while their conductor Akhrou Koza was adjudged the best choir conductor.
Delhi Public School Dimapur was declared runner-up and received cash prize of Rs 50,000.
Living Praise was winner of best choir uniform while the best stage discipline choir went to Aborigines.
Altogether six choirs participated in the 2nd edition of Ultimate Hornbill Choir 2014.
The judges for the competition were Khyochano Ngully, Asin Shrühozelie and Theja Meru.
The Ultimate Hornbill Choir was initiated and presented by Music Task Force (YRS), government of Nagaland, as part of the annual Hornbill Festival with a view to promoting and strengthening choral music cultures.
The basic foundation for holding this competition is to promote choirs from both disciplines of religious and secular approach.
“Through this event, we aspire to facilitate the most central platform for choirs to compete, find and set standards amongst others choirs in the state and the country,” according to the organizers.
