Chang apex body bars members from filing nomination for Nagaland Assembly election

Dimapur, Jan. 21 (EMN): The apex body of the Chang community, Chang Khulei Setshang (CKS), has resolved not to allow any individual from the community to file nomination for the upcoming Nagaland Assembly election.

A statement from CKS media cell said that in an emergency meeting on Saturday, along with Changsao Thangjam Setshang and Chang Wedoshi Setshang, it resolved to remain “steadfast and firm” to the resolution passed by the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) on August 26, 2022, to abstain from participating in any electoral process until the government of India fulfils its separate state demand.

It warned that stern action would be initiated against those individuals “jeopardising the stand of the Chang Khulei Setshang”

“The Chang Khulei Setshang also endorses the Chang Wedoshi Setshang to fully implement and act on the resolution. No political campaign shall be allowed within the Chang jurisdiction,” it read.
