Dimapur, October 18
The ACAUT Nagaland has condemned what it called senseless assault of a Naga entrepreneur Thepfüsatuo Chatsu of New Chumukedima village on October 13 by NSCN (IM) cadres Mughato and his two accomplices and demanded that the NSCN (IM) hand over the culprits to the police unconditionally. The media cell of ACAUT, in a release today, said Chatsu was brutally assaulted and his two mobile phones along with cash were stolen which had been amply highlighted.
“What is most shameful of this uncivilized act is the fact that this despicable and cowardly assault happened despite the Chumukedima Public Resolutions of 13th Feb 2014 where it was resolved that no tax would be paid to any factions as long as the NPGs do not unite and that any member of the business community paying tax to any of the NPGs would be expelled from Chumukedima jurisdiction,” the release stated.
The ACAUT described the assault as most unwarranted as “Chatsu had been simply deferring to that 13th Feb public resolution”. It sought to explain that the factions should realize that trying to force shut the voice of the people will no more work in today’s Naga society and therefore they should seriously start to learn to respect the feelings of the Naga people and respect public mandates.
“Thrashing our own Naga entrepreneur black and blue on account of tax issue is against any civilized norm and the particular faction should take moral responsibility and publicly apologize to the Naga people,” the ACAUT. It further asserted that it is totally behind the public leaders of Chumukedima on this issue and is ready to render any help whatsoever.
Chumukedia students condemn
The Chumukedima Students Union comprising Chumukedima Town Students Union, Chumukedima Village Students Union and New Chumukedima Village Students Union has vehemently condemned the serious physical assault on Thepfüsatuo Chatsu who is a member of Chumukedima youth and students body.
In a release today, the union said as a students’ body it will not tolerate such evil crime in the society and extended full support to the Chumukedima youth in this connection. Asking the NSCN (IM) to hand over their cadres involved in the incident, the union reminded the national workers to work for welfare of the people and not to threaten the lives of innocent public.
