DIMAPUR, JANUARY 31
Governor of the Reserve Bank of India Raghuram G Rajan has requested the department concerned in Reserve Bank to look into the complaint lodged by T R Zeliang in connection with the alleged remittances involving crores of rupees.
“Many thanks for your letter of January 16, 2015 soliciting action from RBI based on news reports on remittances abroad in your name. I have requested the department concerned in Reserve Bank to look into the matter,” said Raghuram G Rajan in a letter to T R Zeliang.
Noke led NPFMeanwhile, the Noke led NPF said the exposure of the huge amounts of black money transfer involving the minority chief minister T.R. Zeliang has created shock throughout the country. “TR Zeliang has tried to evade the issue and made every attempt to divert the issue by saying that he would welcome any investigation. He has even written to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) asking the RBI to look into the matter,” the statement also said.
According to Noke led NPF, the exposure reveals transfer of money from Singapore to Hong Kong and from Singapore to Kuala Lampur.
“It did not involve money transfer from India to abroad, therefore the question of the RBI investigating the transfers does not arise. Rather the ploy is only an eyewash on the part of TR Zeliang to mislead the public,” it alleged.
“If he is indeed serious about welcoming any investigation, he should call a meeting of the State Cabinet and approve for an independent investigation by the CBI into any transfers of black money, especially black money involving awarding of contracts to oil companies for Nagaland,” the Noke led NPF added.
