The Nagaland State Bharat Scouts & Guide Induction & Award ceremony was held at Durbar Hall, Raj Bhavan Kohima on September 29.
Governor PB Acharya was inducted as Chief Patron by John Tochimong, State Organizing Commissioner (Scout) and Chief Minister T.R. Zeliang as the Patron by Albert Solo, State Training Commissioner (Scout).Speaking at the function Acharya said that the Bharat Scouts & Guides is a voluntary, non-political and educational movement for young people and added that scouting is to create a positive environment where young people are encouraged to be self-reliant and helpful to each other and in the process built a better society.
The organization was established in 1967 with only 540 Scouts and 50 Guides but has presently a membership of 1269 Scouts and 1264 Guides, which he said is due to the efforts of the pioneers for their selfless services for bringing the youth to this stage. He congratulated Khyomo Lotha for being appointed as Vice President of North Eastern Region Development Committee and John Tochimong for being appointed as Board Member of National Resource Development & Managing Committee and Vimezhonu Paphino SOC (G) as Board Member of National Rules Committee all under Bharat Scouts & Guides. He also congratulated the 23 Guides and 33 Scouts of Nagaland Bharat Scouts & Guides who have received the Governors Awards and the 6 Guides who have qualified for the President Awards at the function.
Governor further said that he was delighted that the Nagaland Bharat Scouts & Guides has chalked out vision 2015 with great initiatives to improve youth programme, increase annual membership by 10%, improve its financial status and also improve communication and public relations. Concluding his speech he assured that as the Chief Patron he will ensure improvement of the Nagaland Bharat Scouts & Guides.
Media Cell, CMO said the programme was compared by Vimezhonu SOC (Guide) and welcome address was given by Nini Meru, Vice Patron. Special number was presented by Scouts & Guide Baptist High, Kohima and vote of thanks was pronounced by Khyomo Lotha SCC, NSBSG.
