Dimapur, July 7 (EMN): Governor PB Acharya and the chief minister Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu have greeted the Sumi community on the occasion of Tuluni festival 2017.
Describing Tuluni as midyear festival which is celebrated to signify communal harmony and merry making through dance, songs and food, Acharya appealed to the Sumi community to thank the Almighty for His unwavering love and blessings.
Expounding that ‘Alukichimqo’ (farmers) are the ‘annadata’ (food providers), who work hard to provide food for us, Acharya implored to remember and thank them for their hard work.
Pointing out at the welfare projects initiated by the Central and State governments such as soil testing, Kisan credit card, National Food Security Mission etc to help in production and productivity, Acharya said it should be our responsibility to make them know and motivate to avail the services for their benefit. He also appealed to continue to safeguard and promote the rich culture and traditions through our festivals and come together and rededicate ourselves to make the atmosphere conducive in our towns and villages for peaceful co-existence and for all round development in the State.
While conveying best wishes to the Sumi community, he hoped that the celebration of Tuluni festival will bring peace, unity and prosperity to the Sumi’s in particular and Nagas in general.
