Gunfight breaks out in Mon district

Dimapur, Oct. 20: A crossfire between personnel of 40 Assam Rifles and unidentified gunmen occurred at Chenloisho village in Mon district on Sunday.
According to a reliable source from the area, the gunmen attacked the AR camp at around 2:15 am leading to an exchange of fire, which lasted for about an hour.
The source said that the gunmen had fired from a distance of 1-2 km and two innocent civilians, husband and wife, were reported to have received minor injuries after their house was riddled by stray bullets.
The village guards and the gaon buras who reached the spot for verification were reported to have recovered more than ’80 empty bullet cases and one hand grenade’.
While some online news portal went on to alleged that NSCN (K) and NSCN K (YA) carried out the attack, it could not be confirmed officially till the filing of this report.
