Group of people attack Model village

Dimapur, June 19 (EMN): A group of people along on June 9 allegedly entered and attacked the 7th Mile Model village in Dimapur and vandalised a house.
In a press release jointly appended by the village council Chairman Imkong Tsudir, Secretary Kevi Meru and GBs received here on Tuesday, stated that ‘a group with Dr. Zhaneio of Viswema village, entered the village and damaged a house while most villagers were out on their daily chores.’
The alleged attackers had also warned the villagers to vacate the village within two months, the press release stated.
“This unwarranted attack on the village, duly established since 1951 and recognised by the government, is taken very seriously by the village for which this release is made to make it be known that any similar intrusion and attack on the village in the future will be dealt with in any manner as may be felt necessary in the defence of an established Naga village,” the press release stated.

The village council appealed the concerned authorities to take necessary action for the criminal act and also to restrain the attacking party ‘so as not to create law and order situation which may result in bloodshed, as the village will be compelled to defend them in any manner as felt necessary.’
