Dimapur, Nov. 19 (EMN): A group of government workers calling itself the All Nagaland District Ministerial Service Association (ANDMSA) has announced, what it stated on Sunday, a ‘pen down’ and ‘computer shut down’ strike.

The association issued a press release on Nov. 19 informing about their first phase of a three-day state-wide agitation.

The press release explained that the group had decided on the course of action during their meeting on Nov. 17. They referred to ‘failure of the state government for not acceding to the genuine demands of the ANDMSA ‘even after much plea.’ The press release listed out the demands: Amalgamation of the directorate and district ministerial cadre into a common ministerial cadre “as recruitment policy and criteria of both the cadre are same”; elevation of HA/Sr. HA to that of district superintendent class-I and SDHA / accountant to that of class-II; creation of district superintendent class-I and assistant district superintendent class-II in all the independent DDOs of districts and sub-divisions.

The association explained that it was now left with no option but to go for phase-wise agitation all over the state.

‘The first phase of the agitation will be pen down and computer shut down which starts from Nov. 27 to the 29th and will intensify the agitation of non response (sic) from the government. Therefore, all the district units of the ANDMSA are directed to monitor their respective districts as resolved,’ the press release stated.

The group has appealed to the public to ‘bear with the inconvenience and also request to cooperate with the association.’
