Dear citizens of Nagaland,
It is with great pleasure that I am sending my greetings to all peace-loving patriots who are gathering together at Khonomavillage today to celebrate the 79th Naga Independence Day, the 14th August, 2025. This is, indeed, a red letter day for the Nagas. On this day, seventy-nine years ago, we had declared the Naga Independence, one day ahead of India. This is ourunique history.
The problem in Nagaland is a case of aggression by India. Naga people have been suffering too long. Yet, by the grace of God, we are surviving and we will survive as a people. To reach that goal early, I will now caution our people, “Beware of propaganda and rumours, which are (mostly calculated ones)manufactured by trained and professional outsiders to confuse and divide our people.” The unfortunate part is that many of our people whom their own people take them as leaders become the carriers of those diseases. Indeed, we have gone through a long period of confusion, but we believe we are overcoming that period of confusion now.
Let us hope that we will cross and come out clear of that chapter of confusion very soon. We have nothing to fear as the Psalmist sings ‘The Lord is my Light and my Salvation; whom shall I fear?”
Long live Naga National Council!
Kuknalim.
