Dimapur, Sep. 2 (EMN): In collaboration with the Green Team of Kohima, St. Joseph University in Dimapur conducted a seminar on plastic pollution, on August 30 at Khuzama village in Kohima. The slogan for the event was “my waste, my responsibility,” organisers informed.
The institution issued a press release to the media on Monday informing about the programme.
During the programme, founding member of the Green Team of Kohima, Thangi Mannen talked about concerns about the devastating effects of plastic on the society and the ecological systems. The retired government officer was stated to have emphasised on reducing, reusing, and recycling to beat plastic pollution.
A session on how to make paper bags was led by Francis Ruangmei, a member of Green Team. In his introductory speech, he spoke about the importance of finding alternative products such as paper bags, which are environment friendly and economically affordable. It may in turn also create employment avenues, the updates stated.
Ruangmei exhorted the gathering to learn how to make paper bags, and to teach others too.
