“Gratitude is one of the causes of happiness in life” – Fr. Dzeyie
Kohima, Jan. 3 (EMN): Rev. Fr. Dr. George Keduolhou Dzeyie, principal of St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Jakhama, reminded believers to give gratitude to God and to one another, saying it is one of the greatest causes of happiness in life.
He stated this while delivering a sermon on New Year’s day celebration as the main celebrant at St. Paul Catholic Church in Chiechama village under Kohima district.
“One year has passed; what have you done to God to show your thanks and gratitude?” he asked. While emphasising on the need to thank one another besides God he said, “Gratitude is one of the causes of happiness in life.”
“The first way to show true thanksgiving to God is to always remember Him,” Dzeyie said adding, “Remembering Him means that He is a part of our thoughts, words, and deeds.”
He also cautioned against “Taking too much credit for ourselves and forgetting the creator.” To give thanks to God, according to him, was to recognise His hand in our lives.”
According to him, “repentance is one of the most powerful ways in which we can show God our gratitude.” He stated that people could express their gratitude to those who serve them by showing thanksgiving to God.
The celebrant further reminded to make a new goal/resolution saying, “An excellent way to show thanksgiving to God is by making and keeping a new goal/resolution.”
“It is not right to just take things from God, we owe Him our gratitude in return,” Dzeyie reminded and extended New Year’s greetings.
Many faithful were also seen attending masses on the first Sunday of the year on January 2 in Kohima.
