Grace W. Ezung is Miss Wokha 2017

After a gap of three years Miss Wokha with theme Enhancing Lives through Beauty” was held on Nov. 17 at Local ground, Wokha. Young 22-year old Grace W Ezung from Yonchucho village and a resident of Wokha town was crowned “Miss Wokha 2017” while Lyingbeni Tungoe and Lorenbei Yanthan were crowned as first and second runners-up respectively. The event was organised by Renchen Women Welfare Society (RWWS). Dr. Abeny Khuvung the long reigning Miss Wokha since 2013 coroneted the new Miss Wokha. Altogether eight beauties participated in the pageant after a week of grooming session. The pageant culminated eventfully showcasing local designers’ wears and display on rich Lotha Naga textile being preserved by the organisers were exhibited by the models. N. Hushili Sema IAS, Commissioner and secretary Irrigation and Flood control Govt. of Nagaland was the chief guest of the event. The chief guest appreciated on the efforts of RWWS for the initiative while expressing that beauty is a creation of God where one needs to adore his creation and that human beings are created in his own image both inside and outside. Women can be an agent for keeping the society peaceful and harmony with their multitasking skills apart from the unique creation of beauty, said N. Hushili Sema while expressing that women are mentally and emotionally stronger. She stated that women in Naga society are respected and acknowledged by man and with the undue advantage she called upon the ladies to take it as a positive advantage and build a good image for the future considering their family, traditions and culture. The panels of judges were Jonas Yanthan a senior news reader AIR; Mhalo Ezung, Author; Tiarenla Jamir former beauty Queen; Benthungo Kithan entrepreneur and Zubeno Mozhui, an academician. Artists Rebecca Ezung, Meribeni Patton and Lorina Khuvung enthralled the audience with popular numbers while Thunglamo serenaded the top five finalists and Zippy Crew, a popular dance group performed on the event. The subtitles winners are: Marina Yanthan (Miss Beautiful Skin), Lorenbeni Yanthan (Miss Talent), Rikhyolo Yanthan (Miss Congeniality), Lyingbeni Tungoe (Miss Photogenic) and Jonchibeni Ngullie (Best Traditional Wear).
